If you are seeking training related to Autism, UNT offers two options
for study:
- If you intend to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst
(BCBA), UNT offers a Graduate Academic Certificate in Applied
Behavior Analysis (0600-402GACT-ABA) that satisfies the academic portion of
this credential. The courses completed toward the GACT in Applied
Behavior Analysis cannot be used toward the Master of Science in
Behavior Analysis, nor does admission to the GACT in Applied
Behavior Analysis imply admission to the Master of Science in
Behavior Analysis.
- The Special Education program at UNT through the Department of
Educational Psychology offers a Graduate Academic Certificate in
Autism Intervention (1040-402GACT-AUTI). This certificate is designed for
teachers and degreed parents, paraprofessionals and other
care-givers who wish to pursue a focused, but comprehensive program
of study in the area of autism
spectrum disorders. These courses can be used toward a masters or
doctoral program in Special Education.
The Graduate Academic Certificate in Behavioral Specialist
(1080-402GACT-BEHS) is designed for individuals who have completed the master's
degree program in the area of emotional/behavioral disorders and desire
to provide services to students with behavioral challenges. This
certificate is not related to autism studies.
If you intend to seek a Masters or Doctoral degree in addition to a
Graduate Academic Certificate or teacher certificate, you will need to
apply separately separately for each program you intend to pursue.
