Graduate Artist Certificate in Music Performance

The UNT College of Music offers the Graduate Artist Certificate in Music Performance, a full-length program of graduate study as an alternative to the academic master's and doctoral degrees. This program is designed for exceptionally gifted and accomplished performers seeking professional performing careers. The intensive two-year program involves some 32 to 36 hours of graduate-level work in music performance.

Admission to the Graduate Artist Certificate program requires no Graduate Record Examination, but is a process involving several parts:

1. Preliminary Program Admission, requiring the following:

  • Letter of application
  • College of Music graduate application
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Dossier (vitae, performance reviews, etc.)
  • Recording(s) of recent performance(s)

2. Live Audition, involving the following:

  • Examination of the submitted preliminary application materials
  • If preliminary application is acceptable, then invitation to the UNT campus for a live audition

3. Admission to the Graduate School, involving the following:

  • Application to the Graduate School as a non-degree, certificate-seeking student
  • International students must present the results of the TOEFL
