Offered by the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies, the Vice President for Research and Technology Transfer, and the Graduate Student Council
Guidelines and Deadlines for Submission
Students in good standing who are currently enrolled in master’s or
doctoral degree programs may apply for GRADUATE STUDENT TRAVEL GRANTS
to support the costs of their travel to national or
international professional meetings held during the 2007-2008
academic year. The meetings should be clearly relevant to the degree
being sought and should be meetings of associations or groups with a
national or international membership base or support.
Funds will be available to support graduate students who:
- will be presenting research or creative activity which the
student authored/co-authored, created/co-created. The presentation
or activity must have been peer-reviewed.
Documentation must be included with the travel grant application
that the submission has been accepted.
- are conducting or participating in workshops or professional
development activities that will
substantially enhance their professional skills or
capabilities;
Students are eligible if the travel
qualifying under A (above) occurs on or after September 1, 2007 and
before August 31, 2008
Limitations
- Students may receive only one Travel Grant for the academic
year.
- Priority will be given to students who have not previously
received a Travel Grant.
- Preference will be given to students who are first-authors of
scholarly research or creative presentations and are attending the
professional meeting with their major professor or a faculty member
with whom they work.
- The maximum amount awarded will be $300 per student and students
must receive at least $100 in matching funds from their departments
or other appropriate sources (e.g., other university offices,
grants, contracts, private foundations).
- For projects that involve more than one student, a maximum of
two Travel Grants can be awarded.
- A Vita limited to one TYPED page must accompany the
application. Vitas submitted in prose form invalidate the
application.
- Applications must be submitted on the application form available
from the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies.
- Only TYPED applications will be considered.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- Students may apply if they have not yet received feedback
concerning whether or not their submission has been accepted. In
these cases, documentation of the student’s submission must be
attached to the application. Students who file such Travel Grant
applications may receive a Travel Grant award pending acceptance of
the submission. Students holding pending awards must notify the
Graduate School immediately upon notification of acceptance or
rejection of the presentation or activity. If an awardee’s
submission is rejected, the Travel Grant will be awarded to another
student.
Filing application
- Applicant fills out the application. (MUST BE TYPED)
- Applicant submits application to his/her Department Chair (or
the grant account holder) who will verify the matching funds which
will be provided.
- After obtaining verification, the application is sent to the
Graduate School.
Deadlines
- For Fall 2007, applications are due by November 7 and awards
will be announced Nov. 16th.
- For Spring 2008, applications are due by February 18 and awards
will be announced by March 7th.
- For travel that occurred in Fall semester, 2007, completed
travel vouchers must be submitted within 14 days of completion of
travel or within 14 days of award notification from the Graduate
School if travel has already occurred.
- For travel that occurs in Spring semester, 2008, completed
travel vouchers must be submitted within 14 days of completion of
the travel or within 14 days of award notification from the Graduate
School if travel has already occurred.
- For travel completed during August, 2008, completed travel
vouchers must be submitted to the Graduate School by August 15,
2008.
- Failure to comply with these deadlines will result in the Travel
award forfeiture.
- Awards will be made by a committee appointed by the Graduate
Dean.
