Summary of Basic Credentials

For those seeking Master's or Doctoral degrees, Graduate Academic Certificates, or non-degree status, the required basic credentials include the following:

  • Complete official transcripts from all colleges and universities you attended; transcripts sent to the UNT Graduate School.
  • For degree-seeking students, official score reports of the appropriate standardized examination (the GRE, for example). These examinations may be taken at the UNT Testing Service. (The UNT school code for the GRE is 6481.)
  • Those seeking either non-degree status or a Graduate Academic Certificate do not need a standardized examination.
  • Completed Toulouse School of Graduate Studies Application form (the on-line application through ApplyTexas.org; link below).
  • Completed application form for International Students (the on-line application through ApplyTexas.org; link below).
  • Application fee (non-refundable; US residents: $50; International students: $75);
  • Some degree programs require additional application materials (e.g., letters of recommendation, portfolios, statement of purpose). Contact the program in which you wish to pursue your studies to determine if any additional materials are needed.
  • Finally, please be aware that only written notice from the Graduate Dean constitutes approval of admission. Informal correspondence or other information from departments or individual faculty members does not constitute admission to graduate studies.

Application Deadlines

Application deadlines are available in the Graduate Catalog, or from the University Calendar. Some academic programs, especially for the Ph.D., have earlier deadlines; to be sure, check with the program in which you wish to pursue your studies.

Change of Major/Status

If you want to change your major or status, you need a Change of Major/Status Application, which you can download by clicking here.

Pass-Through Master's Degree

Those applying for a pass-through Master's Degree must fill out and submit the Pass-Through Master's Application, available here.
